Prepare for your jaw to drop. Expect to be amazed and impressed. This one-of-a-kind handmade teardrop trailer represents the highest quality and standards in design and construction.
Created by Dutch designer and builder Ronald Sponselee, the copper-wrapped beauty features a decorative lattice skylight that brightens in the interior sleeping quarters. The inside cabin is lined with finely crafted cabinetry and fixtures, and a pair of circular Dutch doors swing open to provide a roomy entrance and exit.
By day, Sponselee co-owns The Love Bird Co., a design firm that creates elaborate exhibition booths and installations for trade shows and events, and he put those next-level creative skills and experience to work for this personal project. Sponselee began documenting his build on social media in 2017 (his Instagram feed is a must-see), and it took over the Internet a year later when his finished trailer was featured on the cover of Cool Tears magazine (his interview about the build is also worth a read).
Sponselee says he got the idea to build a tiny family caravan after parking next to a handmade teardrop on a family camp trip. “I loved it right away,” he says in his Cool Tears interview. “I started dreaming of building my own teardrop. I promised my daughter that I would build a teardrop so we could go to festivals.”
The design details came to life with inspiration from the Internet, he says, including a popular Steampunk teardrop trailer build that we tracked down for the #0010 spot in the Hall of Fame. It’s a worthy successor.
